30% of Schengen visa applications filed by Moroccans were denied in 2022, mainly by France and Spain.
The number of refusals of Schengen visa applications filed by Moroccans was high in 2022, according to SchengenVisaInfo. While the overall rejection rate of Schengen visa applications in 2022 was 17.9%, Morocco alone recorded a rejection rate of 29.7%, making it one of the countries with the highest rates,” the same source points out, noting that the Kingdom is doing better than 28 other countries in the world, among which Algeria (48.2%) and Tunisia (30.3%).
These visa refusals are mainly from the French and Spanish consular services. Out of 161,045 applications received, France rejected nearly a third, a total of 51,498 applications. Spain, on the other hand, rejected 50,033 and approved 201,584, equivalent to a quarter of the accepted applications.
This means that the two countries are responsible for 85% of the total Schengen visa applications refused in Morocco, causing hundreds of Moroccans to lose hundreds of euros in the application process, while still being rejected,” the report notes.
Note that Morocco was ranked fourth in the Top 10 Schengen visa applicants in 2022.
