Morocco is in the top 10 of the best movie shooting locations in the world. This is what emerges from the ranking of an online travel agency specializing in holidays, tours and seaside stays.
With 31 films, Morocco occupies 10ᵉ place in the ranking of the best film locations in the world produced by the general travel agency Kuoni. The United States tops this ranking with 1,523 films shot in the country. They are followed by the United Kingdom (778 films), France (170 films), Italy (127 films) and Canada (105 films). Spain is in 5th place (61 films) followed by Germany (57 films), Mexico (55 films) and Australia (34 films).
Kuoni also established the ranking of the most searched filming locations in the world. This ranking is dominated by the United States. The latter climbed to first place in the rankings with the film Casablanca (60,500 searches) made in 1942. The American films Stand By Me (60,500 searches), Carol (40,500 searches), Sweet Home Alabama (40,500 searches) followed. Thanks to these films, the United States are tied for 1st, 2nd and 2nd.
With 33,100 searches for Predator, Mexico ranks third. With 33,100 searches for Troy, Dark Shadows, Jumanji and The Notebook, the UK, the US tied for third. Next comes Greece (4ᵉ) with 27,100 searches for the film Mamma Mia! Morocco (5ᵉ) with 22,200 searches for the movie Gladiator, Thailand and the United States (5ᵉ ex-æquo) with respectively the movies The Beach and Jaws close the top 5 of the most searched filming locations in the world.
