The city of Marrakech is one of the 52 destinations recommended in 2022 by the American newspaper, The New York Times.
Like every start of the year, The New York Times publishes a list of the 52 destinations it recommends visiting over the next 12 months. The city of Marrakech figures prominently on this list of countries, cities, districts and even natural spaces. These are “places around the world where travelers can be part of the solution,” the US newspaper says, showing its commitment to sustainable cities.
The first three places go respectively to the town of Chioggia, in the province of Venice (Italy), to the Chimanimani national reserve, in Mozambique, and to the district of Queens, in New York.
Cities like Kyoto, Japan or Zihuatanejo, northwest of Acapulco (Mexico) are also on this list. The island of El Hierro, “the most remote and, according to some, the most charming of the Canary Islands”, according to the newspaper, occupies the 23rd place, and the Cíes (Vigo) islands, the 47th place.
As natural spaces, the American newspaper has selected the National Park of Cerro Castillo, in Chile, or the National Park of Iberá, in the province of Corrientes (Argentina). Countries like South Africa or Slovenia, and even municipalities, like Courmayeur (Italy) are also considered by the newspaper as safe destinations in 2022.
