In response to a question from the Rassemblement National des Indépendants (RNI) group during the weekly session of oral questions in the Chamber of Councillors, the Minister underlined that these projects, currently being carried out by ONDA with a budget of 50 million dirhams and over a period of 15 months, will allow an increase of 25 to 50% in the reception capacity of the three airports, adding that other projects relating to the construction of new terminals are programmed with an envelope of more of 4 billion dirhams for a construction period of 3 to 5 years, the aim being to support the influx expected by 2040.
Mohammed Abdeljalil noted, in the same vein, that these projects will increase the capacity of Tangier airport to 3.2 million passengers, that of Agadir to 4.4 million passengers and the Marrakech airport at 11.5 million.
ONDA also intends to build a new terminal at Rabat-Salé airport in order to provide the administrative capital with modern infrastructure to accommodate 4 million passengers, he said, adding that the Al Hoceima airport extension works will be launched soon.
In response to another question on improving the quality of services at some airports in the Kingdom, the Minister said that as part of its “ENVOL” strategic plan (2021-2025), ONDA places passenger satisfaction at the top of its priorities, by guaranteeing services that meet international standards.
The Minister also stated that the Agency bases itself on two international programs in order to assess its services on an ongoing basis, namely the airport service quality program, supervised by the Airports Council International and the global SKYTRAX program which relies on a benchmark and a detailed audit of the quality of airport services.
He also mentioned the other efforts made to improve the quality of services through a series of measures, citing, among other things, the expansion of car parks at several airports while equipping them with video surveillance cameras and the development of a computer system that identifies problems encountered in certain airport infrastructures, in order to take the necessary measures.
The Minister announced the establishment of a space for exchange with passengers on the ONDA website in order to receive their complaints and observations, recalling that the main airports of the Kingdom have WIFI connection.
