American sportscaster Nico Cantor, known for breaking down in tears at the Atlas Lions’ World Cup performance, celebrates Moroccan hospitality and values. He was in Morocco for the Club World Cup.
Nico Cantor is in love with Morocco and does not hide it. He visited the kingdom as part of the World Club Championship. In a post written in both English and Moroccan Darija, the American sports journalist emphasized the great impact that Morocco’s historic run in the Qatar World Cup has had on his life. In Qatar, fate would have it that an American-born journalist, with the Latino passion of his upbringing, would come face to face with the Moroccan national team. If it weren’t for this soccer miracle, my life would not be the same,” Cantor tweeted.
At the end of the confrontation between Morocco and Portugal, won by the Atlas Lions, Nico Cantor had burst into tears. The Moroccan team had just qualified for the first time in its history in the semi-finals of a World Cup and became the first African team to reach this stage in the competition.
In the same post, the journalist praised the hospitality of Morocco, a country “so rich in history, so warm in its welcome of foreigners and so kind in its human values. Also, he thanked the Moroccan people for their “overwhelming” support during his trip to Morocco. “The relationships I have built will find permanent strength in our bond,” Nicor is confident. He looks forward to another trip to Morocco, during which he plans to visit several Moroccan cities, including Fez, Marrakech and Chefchaouen.
