Algeciras will have, from September, a regular line of helicopters which will liaise with Tangier initially, and later with Tetouan, according to the Spanish press.
The information, reported in particular by Cadena Ser, was confirmed by Antonio Barranco, CEO of the Helity group, which has already been operating the Algeciras-Sebta line since 2017.
According to this official, the line of helicopters will initially serve, from Algeciras, the city of Tangier, then the city of Tetouan, later. The duration of the flight is estimated at about twenty minutes.
Antonio Barranco, clarified that the opening of the line is “pending the declaration of the heliport of Algeciras as an external Schengen border”.
Several administrative procedures still need to be completed before receiving the final license from the Moroccan and Spanish authorities, Spanish media point out.
