The annual survey of the use of ICT among households and individuals reveals the intensification of uses during the period of the Covid-19 pandemic, namely the use of teleworking, distance education and online shopping .
The Internet park reached 33.86 million subscribers in Morocco in the 3rd quarter of 2021, recording a penetration rate of 93.24%, according to the latest statistics from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) . “During this quarter, the Internet fleet recorded significant growth, particularly in terms of mobile and FTTH fleets. This park is growing by 17.78% per year, an increase of 5.1 million subscriptions over one year, “says ANRT. The fiber optic network (FTTH) thus recorded respective annual and quarterly increases of 81.91% and 15.37%, reaching 330,185 subscribers.
The mobile Internet fleet reached 31.69 million, an annual increase of 18.41%. The ADSL segment stabilized at 1.6 million subscribers at the end of September 2021. In addition, number portability concerned, at the end of September 2021, 930,194 mobile numbers, up 23.29% compared to September 2020.
The same evolution is recorded at the level of ported fixed numbers. Their number increased by 25.42%, over one year, to reach 45,430 at the end of September 2021. Regarding mobile telephony, its outgoing traffic stood at 14.63 billion minutes during the third quarter of 2021, recording a slight decrease of 0.65% compared to the same period a year earlier.
SMS traffic grew 6.89% year-on-year to 762 million units. Regarding the average monthly outgoing mobile use, it is down 6.68% over one year, going from 100 minutes during the first nine months of 2020 to 93 minutes over the same period in 2021, specifies the ANRT.
For its part, outgoing fixed telephony traffic reached, during the third quarter of 2021, 412 million minutes, against 487 million during the same period of 2020, recording a decrease of 15.43%.
At the same time, the number of .ma domain names stood at 102,909 domain names at the end of September 2021, up 14.71% over one year, says the ANRT, specifying that during the 3rd quarter of 2021, 6,985 new domain names have been registered. In addition, the ANRT published the results of the annual survey of ICT use among households and individuals.
