“Moroccan Information Technopark Company” (MITC), company in charge of the management of Technoparks Morocco, proceeded, last Tuesday in Oujda, to the signing of a framework partnership agreement with the wilaya, the Council of the region, the Oriental Regional Investment Center (IRC) and Mohammed Premier University (UMP) of Oujda.
This agreement, relating to the creation of Technopark Oujda, was initialed by Lamiae Benmakhlouf, CEO of MITC, Mouad El Jamaï, wali of the Oriental region and governor of Oujda-Angad prefecture, Abdenbi Bioui, president of Council of the region, Mohamed Sabri, DG of the CRI, and Yassine Zarhloule, president of the UMP.
Under this agreement, the Council of the Oriental region undertakes to provide MITC with a building equipped for the establishment of the Technopark Oujda. Note that the said building housed the former headquarters of the People’s Bank. The regional assembly also undertakes to upgrade all equipment and facilities within the building in question.
The framework agreement also includes close collaboration with the UMP in order to facilitate the rapprochement between the company and the University, thus encouraging the creation of innovative companies at the level of the Oriental region, through the promotion of the research and incubation process.
“Our wish is to support and accompany the promoters of innovative projects in their region. Beyond the city of Oujda, the entire Oriental region is full of entrepreneurial capacities and potential. Our duty is to help them and to offer them a platform and support services in order to promote their success “, underlines Lamiae Benmakhlouf.
Covering an area of nearly 4,000 m², the future Technopark has a capacity to accommodate more than 60 startups in “plug & play” mode. The eligibility criteria apply to all project leaders operating in Information Technologies, Green Tech and the cultural and creative industries who will be able to benefit from hosting services, coaching, as well as linking with the network of all Technoparks, facilitating market access and financing.
Like the other Technoparks, the one in Oujda will be located in the city center, close to all administrations and amenities in order to facilitate the daily life of entrepreneurs. Likewise, in addition to startups, the Technopark will also welcome project leaders and self-employed people.
