Morocco: the use of a psychologist, a new trend

-

Moroccans have more and more recourse to psychiatrists, psychologists or coaches. A new trend that has been confirmed with the health crisis.

Ill-being, somatizations, sexual problems, addictions, marital problems, etc., push many Moroccans to have recourse to the offices of therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists or coaches which are now abounding, La Vie Éco reports. According to a specialist interviewed by the newspaper, all people who have experienced a bitter failure or a disabling trauma may feel the need to consult. It lists the most recurrent problems: the school failure of children, the loss of a loved one, a poorly assumed retirement, couple conflicts, the psychological effects of a brutal divorce, addiction or even the loss of ‘a job.

The therapy offered is of different orders: brief, cognitive or other. Its duration depends on the problem that the patient is facing. Sessions range from one week to fortnightly depending on the issues to be addressed. According to specialists, the norm is 45 minutes per session. The patient must pay between 300 and 500 DH or even 900 or 1,000 DH for a session. According to professionals, the number of consultations has gone from 3 per day when the practices opened to 10 per day today. This confirms this new trend.
