Morocco: the government wants to improve the status of auto-entrepreneurs

-

Discuss with the managers of Poste Maroc, Maroc PME and representatives of the DGI so that self-employed people are impacted by the various government measures. This is the objective of the meeting initiated Friday, October 29, by the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri.

Minister Younes Sekkouri intends to work to speed up the processing of applications for applicants for self-employed status, who are experiencing enormous delays. Interested candidates can complete the membership form available online at https://ae.gov.ma/, and then drop it off at a postal or banking branch office. In all, 5,460 units are dedicated to this operation, which will enable requests from self-employed people to be processed expeditiously, which amount to an average of 5,800 per day, L’Economiste said.

When it was created in 2015, the auto-entrepreneur status aimed to promote job creation and formalize certain activities that were carried out illegally. The government of the day set itself the goal of reaching 100,000 auto-entrepreneurs by the end of 2020. Today, 445,000 people have submitted their applications to obtain the auto-entrepreneur card. In this batch, 340,000 people are already satisfied and can start their activity, and the remaining 105,000 are awaiting the completion of the process of processing their application.

The only remaining problem is the delay in withdrawing auto-entrepreneur cards by applicants. The new government, during its policy statement to parliament, announced the creation of a million new jobs. Self-employed status could help, as much as it can turn into an LLC and recruit staff.
