During 2020, Morocco succeeded in thwarting 400 cyber attacks and hacking attempts by hostile individuals and states.
This cyber war was waged to preserve the information systems of the various public and private structures, indicates the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI), which noted an increase in the number of attacks over the past year, Al Ahdath Al Maghribia reports.
To this end, several interventions have been carried out to protect sensitive information systems from attacks from inside or outside and to deal with all kinds of threats that could target them. The objective is to guarantee the confidentiality, security and exchange of information regardless of the degree of their sensitivity, specifies the DGSSI.
To achieve this, the management experts have developed a 100% Moroccan encryption device. This device has been made available to sensitive infrastructures that rely on this system for the protection of their data, whether it is voice or text broadcast on different media.
Also, sophisticated encryption systems have been installed to protect data and communications. Certain ministerial departments, just like sensitive establishments and structures, have also adopted applications provided by the DGSSI to secure their data exchanges in the form of voice or data.
These efforts have advanced Morocco in the area of cybersecurity. The Kingdom has thus fallen from 93rd place in the world in 2018 to 50th place currently in a ranking established by the International Telecommunication Union, the newspaper said.
