Morocco has a Jewish community of nearly 2,000 people

Nearly 2,000 people of the Jewish faith are believed to be living in Morocco today, according to the latest figures from the Jewish Agency, which counted the presence of these communities by country, in statistics released on Sunday (September 5th). The same source said nearly 1,000 Jews lived in Tunisia, 9,500 in Iran and 14,500 in Turkey. In Arab states and those predominantly Muslim, citizens of the Jewish faith are said to number 27,000.

These figures take into account those who declare themselves to be Jewish and those “who are eligible for Israeli citizenship under the Law of Return,” according to the agency. The world total stands at 25.3 million people, including 7.3 million in Israel and 18 million outside,” said a statement, according to which 45.3% of the world’s Jews live in Israel. Meanwhile, “the estimated number of Jews in the United States has increased by 300,000,” the Zionist body said, based on a new investigation by the Pew Research Center.

The same statistics showed that there were countries where this community became even more in the minority, numbering less than 500 people. There are several Arab states there, such as the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Syria and Egypt. The other countries are: Bermuda, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Jamaica, Curacao, Virgin Islands, Bolivia, Surinam, Cyprus, Malta, Slovenia, Bosnia, Albania, North Macedonia, Armenia , Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Indonesia, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Congo, Botswana, Kenya, Madagascar, Namibia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe.

The countries with the largest number of citizens of the Jewish faith are those in Europe and America. In France, they are 446,000, more than Canada (393,000), Great Britain (292,000), Argentina (175,000), Russia (150,000), Germany (118,000), Australia (118,000), Brazil (91,500), South Africa (52,000), Ukraine (43,000), Hungary (47,000), Mexico (40,000), Bas (30,000), Belgium (29,000), Italy (27,000) and Switzerland (18,500).
