Moroccan olive oil is not among the ten best in the world, according to the latest ranking of the Evooleum Guide of the 100 best extra virgin olive oils in the world.
For the first time, first place in the ranking was awarded to two oils: one Spanish and the other Italian. This is followed by three other Spanish oils, three Italian, one Croatian and one oil from Brazil. The latter country joins the Top 10 of this ranking for the first time, reports Diario de Gastronomia.
This year, the 100 best olive oils come from ten countries, including 68 from Spain, 17 from Italy, 4 from Greece, 3 from Croatia, 2 from France, 2 from Tunisia, and one Morocco, Portugal, Brazil, and South Africa. As in previous years, the Evooleum Guide has produced a complete information sheet on each oil, which provides information on their origins, characteristics, varieties of olives, type of olive grove, olive tourism activities or Kosher and Halal certificates…
The Guide also includes a selection of oils whose production is less than 2,500 litres, leaving room for small producers for the first time.
