The Governing Council, meeting on Monday, adopted draft decree No. 2.21.235 fixing the maximum rates of tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide in cigarettes. This draft decree comes in application of article 25 of law n ° 46.02 relating to the regime of raw and manufactured tobacco, to stipulate the compulsory inscription on each packet of manufactured tobacco the percentage of carbon monoxide, in addition data related to the percentages of tar and nicotine. This involves aligning national legislation with international standards in terms of maximum limits for the above chemicals.
