Morocco is one of the safest countries in the world, according to the latest “Global terrorism index 2022” ranking established by the Institute of Economics and Peace based in Australia. The kingdom was ranked 76ᵉ globally.
Morocco is one of the countries in which the terrorist risk is low, reports the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribiya which cites the latest ranking of the “Global terrorism index 2022”. The Kingdom is in 76th place with a total of 1,156 points. At the top of the ranking is Afghanistan, followed by Iraq and Somalia, with a very high terrorist risk.
Morocco was commended for the strategies and policies pursued by the authorities in the fight against terrorism, and for all the actions taken to thwart terrorist threats. “The bloody attacks of 2003 left a significant impact on the country, prompting the government to take more seriously the terrorist threat, which until now had been perceived as remote and limited to the geographical space of the Middle East”, writes the Australian think tank report.
In addition to Morocco, three other Arab countries are among the highest ranked Arab countries in terms of terrorism. These are Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
