CNN Travel: Al Boraq, sixth fastest train in the world

-

The website specialized in tourism CNN Travel has just unveiled its “fly without wings” ranking of the fastest trains in the world. Al Boraq, the only high-speed train in Africa took sixth place in the Top 10.

The first and so far only high-speed train on the African continent, Al Boraq, the Moroccan TGV connecting Casablanca to Tangier, has been awarded sixth place in the ranking of the American site CNN Travel.

With a top speed of 320 km / h, on a dedicated 186 km line between Tangier and Kenitra, the TGV inaugurated in November 2018, has thus carved out a place of choice among the fastest trains in the world.

“Al Boraq also holds the African rail speed record – during pre-service tests in 2017,” said CNN Travel, noting that “until proven guilty, high-speed train is the most efficient alternative to air transport. “.

At the top of the rankings is the Chinese ultra-fast at 460 km / h, using so-called Maglev magnetic levitation technology, and connecting Shanghai Pudong Airport to Longyang Road Station in the city center. Second place also goes to the Chinese “CR400” with 350 km / h.

In third place is the ICE3, the German TGV at 330 km / h, followed by the French high-speed train at 320 km / h, which connects several European cities.

Fifth place in the ranking goes to the Japanese TGV “JR Est E5” which travels at a speed of 320 km / h.
