Overall sales of new cars in Morocco stood at 49,300 units at the end of April, down 8.55% compared to the same period in 2022, according to monthly statistics from the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM).
By segment, the number of new registrations of passenger vehicles (VP) recorded a decline of 6.47%, with 45,035 units sold at the end of April 2023, while that of light commercial vehicles (LCV) has fallen by 26.01%, with 4,265 units sold, said AIVAM. The brand Dacia dominates the segment of VP, with a market share (PDM) of 23.28%, or 10,485 units sold at the end of April 2023, followed by Renault which sold 7,199 units (PDM of 15.99%) and Hyundai (5,831 units and 12.95% PDM), said the same source.
As for the LCV segment, Renault has sold 884 units (20.73% of PDM), ahead of DFSK which has sold 676 vehicles (15.85%) and FIAT with 543 units (12.73%). On the premium side, Audi has sold 1,269 units, representing a market share of 2.82%, ahead of BMW (1,013 units and a market share of 2.25%) and Mercedes (927 units and a share of 2.06%).
For its part, Porsche has sold 168 units, with a market share of 0.37%, while Jaguar sales have reached 38 cars (0.08% of PDM).
