The Royal Moroccan Navy has received a first batch of American Bell 412EPI helicopters, equipped with anti-submarine missiles, the FAR-Morocco Facebook page announced on Saturday October 15, 2022. According to the same source, the lot was delivered last July as part of the Royal Navy’s air fleet reinforcement policy. And to add that the devices in question have already been put into service on the multi-mission frigates of the Moroccan army.
Several media had announced, in November 2021, that Morocco wanted to acquire 36 general-purpose helicopters from the American company Bell Textron Inc. The contract in question mentioned a first batch of 24 aircraft, with the option of adding 12 others delivered later.
Morocco previously had two Bell 412EPI ASW helicopters used by the Royal Navy, but the new versions recently acquired have better technical characteristics and will therefore significantly improve the capabilities of the FAR in the fight against submarines.
