Spanish public channel TVE bans its journalists from visiting Tindouf camps

-

A Spanish union belonging to the public audiovisual pole is making its voice heard to denounce a decision taken by the public channel TVE preventing journalists from taking part in a professional trip to the Tindouf camps.

In a press release, published yesterday, Friday October 8, the Spanish Information Council (a trade union body within the Spanish public audiovisual pole RTVE) denounced the irrevocable decision taken by the management on the exclusion of journalists from the public channel Spanish TVE, of a “professional trip” to the Tindouf Camps.

The trip includes the opportunity to interview separatist leader Brahim Ghali, to which other Spanish media are invited.

According to the same statement, the channel’s management attributed the decision to the “current political situation”, indicating in substance that this attitude is at odds with the principles of free and independent journalism.

This measure is a sign of appeasement from the Sanchez government to the brand new Moroccan executive.
