Spain adopts the complete map of Morocco

-

The official website of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has published the full, uncut map of Morocco. This step follows Thursday’s arrival in Rabat of the Spanish head of government, Pedro Sanchez, marking a new stage in bilateral relations.

The map of Morocco has been adopted in its entirety without the imaginary broken line separating the north from the south of Morocco, at the level of the Moroccan Sahara.

This clarification comes the day after the visit of the Spanish Prime Minister to Morocco at the invitation of King Mohammed VI, to seal a new stage in the partnership between the two countries after 10 months of crisis.

From Rabat, the head of the Spanish executive reaffirmed Spain’s new position on the Moroccan Sahara, a position already adopted in the letter he had addressed to King Mohammed VI.

Thursday, this position in favor of Morocco’s autonomy proposal, judging it the most serious, realistic and credible basis for resolving the dispute, was confirmed in black and white.

Pedro Sanchez justified his decision to bet on the Moroccan autonomy plan, during an informal conversation with Spanish journalists accompanying him on the flight to Rabat.

“I reaffirm that this is the best position in the general interest of Spain”, he declared, emphasizing “we are within the framework of the United Nations and on the same path since 2007”, making reference to the date on which Morocco submitted its proposal for autonomy, widely welcomed by the international community

The head of the Spanish government also argued that Spain is aligning itself with countries like the United States, France and Germany.
