Senegal has just won, this Saturday evening, the African Championship of Nations (CHAN) of soccer after beating the host country, Algeria, in the penalty shootout (0-0 a.p, 5 tabs to 4), in the final that took place at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki.
A real cold shower for the tens of thousands of spectators present in the stands, but also for the Algerian authorities, who have done everything to win this tournament. The absence of the two defending champions, Morocco, and the two other local footballing powers in Africa, Egypt and Tunisia, will not have been enough for Madjid Bougherra’s men, who were beaten by the solid and valiant Senegalese.
Senegal consolidates its continental supremacy. In 2022, the Lions of Teranga won the African Cup of Nations (CAN) in Cameroon, and the African Cup of Nations beach soccer in Mozambique, and qualified for the second round of the World Cup in Qatar.
