Having the rare word, the head of government, Aziz Akhannouch, granted an interview to the French daily L’Opinion, published Monday, January 16, 2023. Mr. Akhannouch did not beat about the bush to invite France to leave its comfort zone and adopt a frank position on the Sahara issue. There are major developments in the recognition by the major powers of the sovereignty of Morocco in our southern provinces. Paris should not simply be an observer.
This call recalls another, addressed to France by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, during a joint press briefing with his French counterpart, Catherine Colonna, on December 16 in Rabat: “During the past three years, thanks to the action led by His Majesty the King, there have been fundamental changes in the positions of countries close to France geographically or politically, but France has always been a pioneer and the need for adaptation may be there too on the table and can be examined. But Morocco has never considered that France’s position is negative, on the contrary.
