New diplomatic gunfight between Morocco and Algeria. Mohamed Ouzzine, Vice-President of the Moroccan Parliament and chairman of the Moroccan delegation taking part in the 17th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Algiers from 26 to 30 January, strongly criticized the hostile remarks against the Kingdom, made at the opening of the event by the President of the Andean Parliament, Gloria Florez, who is not even a member of the OIC.
In the video of his speech, which has gone viral on the Web, Mohamed Ouzzine addressed the Secretary General of the OIC to protest against the attitude of Gloria Florez, who “took advantage of his presence at the Conference as a guest to undermine the territorial integrity of Morocco, a founding member of the Organization.
The Moroccan official also stressed that the presence of the President of the Andean Parliament at the invitation of the host country of the Conference, in this case Algeria, does not give him the right to address issues that are not part of the competence of the OIC, nor to ask polemical questions that may jeopardize the spirit of unanimity that characterizes the joint Islamic action.
To my Algerian brothers: was it really necessary to disturb the climate of brotherhood of a neighboring and brotherly country that is invited among its brothers and sisters,” asked Mohamed Ouzzine, before recalling that Morocco, like Algeria, has suffered from imperialism and colonization against which the two countries have fought together.
The chairman of the Moroccan delegation also called on the Secretary General of the OIC to withdraw the content of the speech of Gloria Florez from the reports of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization, while asking to ensure that this incident does not happen again.
