A twinning agreement between Laayoune and the city of Hollywood in the state of Florida (USA) was signed Wednesday in Laayoune. The act was initialed by the President of the City Council, Moulay Hamdi Ould Errachid and the Mayor of the City of Hollywood, Josh Levy.
The agreement “opens promising prospects for the consolidation of partnership ties in various sectors including tourism, environment, culture, arts, academic research and sustainable development, in addition to sharing expertise and strengthening cooperation.
“This agreement marks the beginning of a closer relationship between the two cities in the economic and cultural fields,” said Mr. Levy after the signing ceremony of the twinning. For his part, his Moroccan counterpart, Hamdi Ould Errachid recalled that this agreement comes after the decision of December 10, 2020, the United States to recognize the Moroccan Sahara.
The U.S. delegation, led by Josh Levy, arrived Monday evening in Laayoune. Tuesday, it met with the wali of the region Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra and visited industrial units in the capital of the Sahara.
