Marathon des sables: The 37th edition organized in the Moroccan Sahara

-

The 37th edition of the Marathon des sables will take place from April 21 to May 1, 2023, in the heart of the Moroccan Sahara.

Approximately 1,200 participants will be self-sufficient in food and will have to complete the 250 kilometers of race in the middle of the desert, over 6 stages in 7 days. The course remains a secret for the moment, it will be revealed only the day before the race.

Several great athletes will compete for the podium. The El Morabity brothers representing the TGCC team will try to win a new title for Rachid EL Morabity. With nine victories to his credit, he could equal the record of Lahcen Ahansal. Another sibling representing the team SOFAC will compete with them. It is Aziz and Hamid Yachou, also natives of Zagora, who are looking for the top of the podium, after a third place in 2022 for Aziz. International runners will participate in this marathon. Also, Moroccan and international brands have responded to the success of this event as Volkswagen, ONMT, SOFAC, Dari, TGCC, OCP, Ain Atlas

In the continuity of the sustainable development policy within the Marathon des Sables, and in order to reduce the carbon footprint as much as possible, this year the plastic bottles provided by Ain Atlas will be recycled and reconditioned for the manufacture of clothes and bags for the MDS Solidarity Center.
