As part of the preparations underway for the inauguration of an official headquarters for Lâayoune Connect, a high-ranking American diplomatic delegation arrived on Wednesday at Hassan I airport in Lâayoune.
An American delegation has been staying in Morocco since Tuesday, as part of the inauguration on Wednesday of the Laâyoune Connect platform. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Wali of the region of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, Abdessalam Bakrat, accompanied by officials and elected representatives of the region.
The Laâyoune Connect platform is a project carried out thanks to the efforts of the US government, with the aim of promoting regional investment and marketing in the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region. The implementation of the project was carried out by the international consulting firm JE Austin Associates, a Washington-based company with a regional office in Rabat. Funding is provided by the US government through the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).
The main mission of this platform is to put companies in the region in touch with local and international investors. All this through an online search engine that will present the platform. Agriculture, fishing, tourism, renewable energies and logistics are the sectors primarily concerned by the services offered by this platform.
The launch of the platform is on a list of many activities planned by local authorities, with the aim of encouraging investment and place marketing in the region.
