African Union: Aminatou Haidar surfs on the status of observer member granted to Israel

-

Aminatou Haidar, in turn, is surfing the status of observer member with the African Union, granted in July to Israel. Taking Algeria’s version to the letter, she said, in statements to an Algerian media, that Morocco was “the first beneficiary” of the decision taken by the president of the AU Commission, Chadian Moussa. Faki, “because he thinks that it will make it possible to settle the conflict in Western Sahara in his favor”.

The president of the “Sahrawi Instance against Moroccan Occupation (ISACOM)” estimated that the kingdom “thinks that its links with Israel would allow it to establish a kind of balance with Algeria, which is a regional force, and this, by taking advantage of the military technology of the Zionist entity ”.

Aminatou Haidar underlined that “by obtaining observer status with the Pan-African organization, Israel is seeking institutional access to be able to influence African decision-makers and undermine the liberating heritage of the continent.

Israel maintains diplomatic relations with around 46 States of the African Union, some of which are fervent defenders of the Polisario, such as the Uganda of Yoweri Museveni, president in office since 1986, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia or Kenya.
