Morocco seduces American businessmen

-

The economic opportunities offered by Morocco are arousing the interest of American businessmen, said Wednesday in Casablanca, the Chargé d’affaires at the United States Embassy in Morocco, David Greene.

Speaking at a networking reception organized in honor of American businessmen who came to discuss ways of cooperation and partnership with Moroccan business leaders, Mr. Greene highlighted the economic potential Morocco is ready to consolidate bilateral economic relations and promote growth between the two countries.

The visit gives new impetus to efforts to strengthen commercial ties between Morocco and the United States in the light of the 15th anniversary, celebrated in 2021, of the free trade agreement (FTA) sealed between the two countries, the diplomat said.

“We discussed with participants how this FTA has helped increase business opportunities between the United States and Morocco, expand trade, and create thousands of jobs for the benefit of our two countries,” he said. he said, adding that since its entry into force in 2006, trade between the two countries has quintupled to allow more than 120 American companies to operate in the Kingdom. After noting that the reopening of borders and the alleviation of the health crisis mark a favorable situation for economic recovery, Mr. Greene referred to the current global context which “requires us to act together to promote peace and security and build peaceful productive ties, like the model that the United States and Morocco have built through their common history”. Earlier in the day, the commercial service of the Consulate General of the United States in Casablanca organized multi-sectoral B2B meetings between a delegation of twelve American companies and various actors from the Moroccan business community.

This visit is part of the Trade Winds Middle East and Africa event, a U.S. government-led trade mission that organizes business trips to several countries in the North Africa and Middle East region benefiting hundreds of American companies.

The objective of this visit is to create business links and help participating companies achieve growth and exposure in several business sectors such as agri-food, new information technologies, security, defense technologies and energy.
