To make it easier for them to choose the best destination for teleworking, Wise has carried out a study that analyzes the cost of living in around a hundred cities in 67 countries.
Top tourist destinations like Casablanca in Morocco are a safe option for telecommuting. The cost of living there is affordable with monthly expenses estimated at 520 euros, according to the study. In the South African cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town, two other tourist destinations, the average monthly cost is 620 euros and 720 euros respectively. All destinations are in time zones compatible with working hours in Spain (UTC, UTC+1, UTC+2, UTC+3, UTC-1).
According to the latest INE data, the average salary of Spaniards is 25,265 euros gross per year, with a significant difference of more than 5,000 euros between men (27,642 euros) and women (22,467 euros). After analyzing the data, the city of Blagoevgrad in Bulgaria is the cheapest destination for teleworking, with 260 euros per month for basic expenses (about 150 euros for rent and 100 euros for food, transport and activities Recreation). Sofia, the capital, is also a good choice, with an average spend of 490 euros.
Other options to consider are Ankara in Turkey with 290 euros per month, or the Polish city of Krakow and the Hungarian capital, Budapest, where the monthly cost of living averages 550 euros and 560 euros respectively.
