The Moroccan banking group, Attijariwafa bank, won this prestigious distinction from Global Finance magazine, for the second year in a row.
As part of its 30th annual ranking of the safest banks in the world, Global Finance, the American magazine of international reference in the field of financial news, has just unveiled its ranking of the safest banks in the world in 2021.
The prestigious prize for “Safest Bank in Africa in 2021” was awarded to Attijariwafa bank for the second year in a row, indicates a press release from the Moroccan banking group. This distinction comes on top of the “Best Investment Bank in Morocco” awards, awarded by the same magazine last March.
The magazine selected the banks based on an assessment of the long-term foreign currency ratings (ratings by Moody’s, Standard & Poor’s and Fitch) of the 500 largest banks in the world.
The past year has demonstrated a notable resilience of the banking sector, which has stood as a bulwark against collapse during the coronavirus pandemic, providing emergency funding to customers,” Joseph Giarraputo said on this occasion, editor and editorial director of Global Finance. “The safest banks are models of stability and continue to provide the necessary support to governments and communities seeking to recover from the shocks of the pandemic,” he added.
