MRE transfers exceed 54 billion dirhams at the end of July

Remittances made by Moroccans living abroad (MRE) amounted to more than 54 billion dirhams (billion dirhams), for the first seven months of 2021, against 37.1 billion dirhams during the same period of the year. previous year, says the Foreign Exchange Office which has just published its monthly foreign trade indicators for July. These transfers thus show an increase of 45.6%.

The indicators also show a decline in the surplus of the balance of trade in services from 18.3% to 30.13 billion dirhams. This situation follows a drop in exports combined with an increase in imports.

Also, travel, which is the main component of trade in services in Morocco, posted a surplus balance down 51.9%. This development is mainly attributable to the drop in travel receipts of 42.8%, standing at 13.04 billion dirhams at the end of July 2021, while travel expenses fell by 18%.
