Moroccans are the only Africans in the top 25 naturalizations in Germany. Algerians and Tunisians are thus absent from the ranking of the Federal Statistical Office, Destatis.
In all, 11,090 Africans were naturalized in Germany in 2020 out of the 109,880 foreign nationals established in the country, reveals the Federal Statistical Office, Destatis. Among them, 2320 Moroccans. The latter are also the only Africans appearing in the top 25 naturalizations and occupy the 13th position.
A total of 28,305 nationals of European Union member countries and 30,385 non-EU European nationals acquired German citizenship last year. There are 11,630 Turkish nationals, 4,930 English nationals from the United Kingdom, 3,440 Kosovars in Europe and 33,685 Asians, including 6,700 Syrians, 4,770 Iraqis, 3,965 Iranians and 2,880 Afghans.
