Faced with the rise in hospitalizations in Brussels, Belgium has decided to impose new restrictions on travelers from Morocco and other countries placed on its red list.

After a long period of easing, the Belgian authorities updated the travel conditions on September 10. “Travelers from countries in the red zone, including Morocco, who wish to travel to Brussels territory must, from September 17, when they are not vaccinated or in possession of a recovery certificate, comply with a compulsory quarantine of 10 days ”, indicates a press release from the Common Community Commission in Brussels (COCOM).

However, the quarantine may be shortened, if the person presents on the 7th day a negative PCR test, a mandatory test at national level on the 1st and 7th day of arrival in Belgium, specifies the same source. People vaccinated from Morocco are not affected by this measure.

“More than a third of new cases are recorded on return from travel,” warned Inge Neven, head of the Covid-19 system of the Common Community Commission (COCOM), indicating that 10% of the 6,000 people returned from Morocco the last time. week of August were contaminated.
